Attribute @pos and @msd with Oxygen XML Editor

Anne GF
Dear TEI-List,

I'm working with the software Oxygen XML Editor (https://www.oxygenxml.com/) and encoding with students textual document in TEI-XML.

We would like to encode some linguistic information, as POS. So, following the documentation, here the encoding we use:

<TEI xmlns="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0">
        (...)
    <text>
        <body>
            <p>
                <s>Les <w pos="N" lemma="chat">chats</w> mangent les souris</s>
            </p>
        </body>
    </text>
  </TEI>

But, Oxygen do not accept the attribute @pos. @lemma is ok, but @pos (neither @msd)... do you know why and how I can resolve that? Is Oxygen true showing me an error, or is it an issue of the software? Show I change the TEI xmlns declaration?

Oxygen gives my the following error: "attribute "pos" not allowed here; expected attribute "ana", "cert", "change", "copyOf", "corresp", "exclude", "facs", "function", "lemma", "lemmaRef", "met", "n", "next", "ns:datcat", "ns:valueDatcat", "part", "prev", "real", "rend", "rendition", "resp", "rhyme", "sameAs", "select", "source", "style", "subtype", "synch", "type", "xml:base", "xml:id", "xml:lang" or "xml:space" (with xmlns:ns="http://www.isocat.org/ns/dcr")"

Thanks a lot for your help!

Anne GF

Dear Anne,

It sounds like you are using an older version of the Guidelines.
Hopefully, all you need to do is to update the "TEI Framework" inside
oXygen (Help -> Manage add-ons).

I hope this helps, please let the list know if it hasn't.

Re: Attribute @pos and @msd with Oxygen XML Editor

It works!

I didn't even had the TEI Framork add-on. So, I followed instructions from this blog: https://blogs.it.ox.ac.uk/jamesc/2014/04/02/auto-update-your-tei-framework-in-oxygen/ (add the URL http://www.tei-c.org/release/oxygen/updateSite.oxygen in Preferences > Add-ons and then update add-on in Help > Manage add-ons)  and everything is working well.

Thank you very much,

AnneGF

Eduard Drenth
Hi,

You may also consider using a standard in @pos and @msd, like we do here: https://bitbucket.org/fryske-akademy/tei-encoding.

We will probably migrate our @fa:pos to @tei:pos in the future, but still want to restrict its content...
