NZETC moving to Wairētō

Stuart A. Yeates

The NZETC is moving to a new system backed by an OAIS / ISO 14721:2012 compliant archival system and fully integrated with the other collections across the institution. The public interface for TEI/XML is still in beta and has some rough edges (we're the first institution using the platform to do TEI/XML), but the back end is fully functional.

The interface that most users will see is http://tewaharoa.victoria.ac.nz/ and collection browse functionality is available at https://viewer.waireto.victoria.ac.nz/client/collections Some functionality (such as full text searching) is not yet available.

The new system uses Rosetta, ALMA and PRIMO from ExLibris (now part of ProQuest) and the archival collections side is branded locally as Wairētō (meaning deep waters in te reo Māori). The authority work done in the old NZETC infrastructure is being converted to MARCXML for import into ALMA.

The multiple old platforms (http://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz/ http://researcharchive.vuw.ac.nz/ http://restrictedarchive.vuw.ac.nz http://exams.victoria.ac.nz/ etc) are still running and will continue to run for some time. Systematic redirects will be in place from the old sites to the new, but some links (such as RSS feeds, search URLs, etc) may be broken.

cheers
stuart
